Chapter 10

*Ring ring* A girl looked up from the homework she was supposed to be concentrating on and got up to answer it. She was very tall with long black hair. Her eyes were dark and menacing, and her fingers donned long fingernails, adding to her threatening look. She looked back at her sleeping boyfriend, a skinny blonde boy, who was supposed to be doing his work as well, and sighed. She picked up the phone.

"Hello?"
,br> "Hello," the voice said.

"Uhmmm… Are you trying to reach someone?"

"It depends."

"It depends on what?" She demanded. "Look, I think you have the wrong number."

"No, I have the right number," he snapped at her with. He gently added, "You have a very nice home from as far as I've seen."

"Yeah, ok," she said sarcastically, desperately trying to hide how stricken with fear she was.

"157 Maple Street…" he continued.

She turned to her boyfriend, to wake him.

"I wouldn't try to wake him."

"What?"

"He's sleeping, I know. He's fast asleep on the couch. It's blue, and it has a stain on the armrest," The voice sneered.

"Who is this?" she asked, unable to stop her voice from shaking. "Leave me alone!"

She heard a door open. She hadn't locked the back door. She got her boyfriend up and hid, with him, in a darkened corner of the room, where they were barely visible.

"Cassie, this is stupid," he said, pulling away from her, "It was probably just some pranker."

As she was about to answer, she saw a quick flash of metal, and blood pouring out of her boyfriend's side.

"Matt!" she screamed. The killer slowly turned to face her. She screamed as loud as she could, and turned towards the front door and ran. She proved to be too slow, for as her hand had just gripped the cold doorknob, the killer raised the knife and plunged it into her back. With a whimper, she sank to the ground. The killer calmly retreated from the scene.
