Chapter 1

“You’re not serious, are you? You have to be joking!” Taylor said in a stern tone. He refused to believe.

The police officer shook his head. “It’s no joke,” He said.

“Well, when did it happen? Who did it?”

“We don’t know,” the officer said trying to calm Taylor down. “We’re doing our best.” Taylor got up and left. He went out to find Isaac to bring him home. He couldn’t take hearing about it anymore. He had gotten a call that morning from the police station, saying there was a murder in town and they were needed for questioning. The news in itself surprised Taylor quite a bit, but nothing would prepare him for what came next. It seems the murder hit a little too close to home, and he was shocked to find out the victim was Samantha Tucker. He had known her for years, and they were quite close. He wondered to himself who would do such a thing. He didn’t tell Isaac or Zac when he found them. They were obviously curious as to why Taylor was there, so Zac asked carefully,

“What happened?” Taylor looked at him, but only said,

“I’ll tell you later, I don’t feel like talking about it now.”

The drive home was silent. No one had anything to say. Isaac and Zac shot each other questioning looks, but neither knew what to think. When they got home, Taylor went off into his room to sulk. Isaac sighed, and turned on the T.V. News. He flipped around, and every channel seemed to have news. He finally stopped at one to watch. A stern looking reporter was on. He said in a monotone,

“Nothing is known of the murder of Samantha Tucker. Her parents and neighbors were all out, and she was home alone, so no one caught a glimpse of her killer.”

Isaac and Zac looked at each other. The phone rang.
