Nine Commandments

Isaac slipped out of his bed, and glanced at the clock. 2:13. He quietly made his way out of the room, and into the hall. Before he could make it far out into the hall, he tripped on a book left on the floor. He bent over, and picked up the book. He ran his long fingers over the cover. He eyed the pages for a moment. Nothing of much importance, probably just something one of his brothers left lying around. He went into the living room and put it on a shelf with the rest of the books. One, he noticed, that he put it near was the Bible. That thought allowed his mind to drift and brought his attention to the Ten Commandments. He started reviewing them in his head for no particular reason.

You shall have no other gods before me.

He made his way into the kitchen, his delicate figure illuminated by the soft moonlight flowing in the window.

You shall not take the name of the Lord you God in vain. Jesu- Uhmmm… ok, I slip on that sometimes, but not all too often.
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

He walked towards a cabinet in the kitchen. He carefully opened a drawer.

Honor your father and your mother. Of course, I love my parents.
You shall not commit adultery.

He rummaged through the drawer until he found the object he was searching for. Satisfied, he closed the drawer again.

You shall not steal. Well, I've never stolen anything before in my life.
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. I'm a fairly honest person.
He strode back down the hall, his body slicing through the air.

You shall not covet your neighbor's wife.
You shall not covet your neighbor's goods. Nope… looks like I check out clean…

He crept back into his room, but halted when he realized he had forgotten one. His mind scanned his memory for the tenth one, but it pulled out nothing. He sighed. Oh well, he thought. He continued to his brother's bedside. He raised the object he had obtained earlier above his head. He swung his arms down, and as the knife raced through the air, the last one occurred to him.

Thou shalt not kill.
Too late…
